Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer — Web & Mobile

This position is based in Mountain View, California, and reports to the Quality Assurance Director.

Vello Corporation is seeking a senior and detail oriented individual who is familiar with QA methodology and process, capable of converting product requirements into test cases, track down issues until resolution, alert project leads to potential product risks, work with a professional team, work closely with Customer Support, Development, Product and Member Support teams and is self-driven.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform functional/user interface testing per product specs (black box testing)
  • Perform full or partial regression tests (black box testing or automation)
  • Perform automated testing on web applications
  • Write and review test cases, report and document results
  • Ensure software meets user requirements, customer workflow and user scenarios
  • Work with Customer Support to resolve issues that are potential bugs
  • Work with pertinent teams to establish necessary test environments
  • Work testing product releases on web & mobile phones
  • Responsible to document, maintain and update company intranet (Wiki) for QA.

Job Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of Software Testing and Quality Assurance experience
  • Must have strong organizational skills
  • Able to perform repetitive detailed testing
  • Excellent communication, issue tracking & reporting skills
  • Ability to report issues with well defined steps in a reporting system for issue tracking
  • Ability to troubleshoot and analyze software defects
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ability to self-manage
  • A take-charge and proactive attitude is highly encouraged
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and work on multiple projects

Qualification:

  • Must have strong written documentation and organizational skills
  • Must have strong Web Applications testing expertise (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari)
  • Must have worked with Windows, Apple and Unix/Linux Client/Server platforms
  • Must have SQL Query Database knowledge, Unix Log tracking using PuTTy experience
  • Must be familiar with one/more scripting languages (PHP, Perl, Ruby, etc.)
  • Must be familiar working with Selenium, FitNesse? or Watir test automation tools
  • Must have some J2ME, Windows Mobile and/or WAP mobile testing expertise

Education:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent technical experience desirable.
